Paramount Pictures released Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in May 1984, the second installment in Steven Spielberg and George Lucas's adventure series following Raiders of the Lost Ark. The film pushed the franchise into darker territory, drawing both controversy and enormous box office success.
