FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released Beetlejuice in March 1988, with Tim Burton directing his second feature film. The production marked an early collaboration between Burton and Michael Keaton, and the film's blend of dark comedy and practical effects found immediate commercial success. It remains a defining work of late-1980s fantasy filmmaking and established Burton's visual sensibility as a recognizable force in Hollywood.

This cell, titled Beetlejuice, Adam and Barbara, captures Betelgeuse alongside Adam Maitland and Barbara Maitland within a single continuous shot. Michael Keaton's Betelgeuse appears in his signature striped suit against a dark supernatural atmosphere, with the illuminated marquee reading Betelgeuse Betelgeuse anchoring the lower frame. A circular graphic element visible in the third frame suggests an in-camera or optical effect characteristic of the production's practical approach.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
