Beetlejuice arrived in 1988 from Warner Bros., directed by Tim Burton in only his second feature film. The production marked an early convergence of Burton's gothic sensibility with mainstream studio filmmaking, and its commercial and critical success helped establish the distinctive visual language he would carry through subsequent decades. The film remains a landmark of late-1980s fantasy cinema and a defining work in the careers of nearly everyone involved in its making.

These two frames capture Lydia Deetz, portrayed by Winona Ryder, in a darkened interior suffused with blue accent light characteristic of the Deetz house sequences. The near-identical framing across both cells suggests consecutive moments from a single shot, preserving Lydia mid-gaze in the contemplative, quietly otherworldly register that defines her throughout the film.
