FILM NOTES

Beetlejuice was released by Warner Bros. in the spring of 1988, directed by Tim Burton in only his second feature film. It arrived at a moment when mainstream Hollywood was largely uninterested in genuinely strange comedies, and its success helped establish Burton as a filmmaker with real commercial reach. The picture remains a defining work of its decade, blending practical effects, Danny Elfman's score, and an unusually committed ensemble into something that has held its audience across generations.

This cell, titled Barbara and Adam, captures Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin in a quiet, charged moment between the Maitland couple. Barbara leans over Adam, her hand resting on his face, the two figures close and still. Drawn from consecutive frames of a single shot, the cell preserves the sustained intimacy of the scene rather than a single frozen instant, giving it an unusual sense of duration for a still image.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
