FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released Beetlejuice in March 1988, marking a turning point for director Tim Burton and cementing his reputation as a singular voice in American fantasy filmmaking. The film blended dark comedy, practical effects, and an anarchic sensibility that set it apart from the era's mainstream fare. Its success launched Burton toward Batman the following year and established Michael Keaton as a performer of genuine range and physical invention.

This cell, titled Beetlejuice, captures two consecutive frames of Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse in an inverted composition, arms raised against a blue-lit interior. The characteristic wild hair and makeup read clearly even in this disorienting angle, preserving a moment that reflects the film's commitment to practical, in-camera strangeness.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
