Top Secret! was released by Paramount Pictures in 1984, directed by the team of Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker, fresh from their success with Airplane! The film is a broad parody of Cold War spy thrillers and Elvis-era musical pictures, and while it underperformed domestically on initial release, it has since earned a devoted following as one of the more inventive comedies of its decade.
