Top Secret! was released by Paramount Pictures in 1984, directed by the team of Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker, fresh from their success with Airplane! The film is a parody of both Cold War spy thrillers and Elvis Presley musicals, blending rapid-fire visual gags with deadpan performances. It performed modestly at the domestic box office but earned a devoted following and stands as a representative example of the absurdist comedy style the ZAZ team perfected during this period.
