Universal Pictures released Jurassic Park in June 1993, directed by Steven Spielberg and adapted from Michael Crichton's novel. The film arrived as a turning point in visual effects history, combining practical animatronics with pioneering computer-generated imagery to bring dinosaurs to the screen with unprecedented believability.
