Universal Pictures released Jurassic Park in June 1993, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Michael Crichton's novel. The film marked a turning point in visual effects history, combining Stan Winston's practical creature work with pioneering digital imagery from Industrial Light and Magic. Its cultural footprint remains enormous, and original 35mm elements carry the particular warmth and grain structure of a production shot before digital intermediate processes became standard.
