Muppet Treasure Island was released by Walt Disney Pictures in February 1996, directed by Brian Henson and marking the Muppets' fourth theatrical feature. Arriving two years after Jim Henson's death, the film demonstrated the franchise's continued vitality under new stewardship, blending Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure with the ensemble's signature comedy.
