Muppet Treasure Island was released by Walt Disney Pictures in February 1996, directed by Brian Henson and marking the Muppets' fourth theatrical feature. Adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel, the film blended live-action and puppet performance at a high level of craft, earning strong box office returns and cementing the franchise's continued relevance in the mid-1990s.
