Twentieth Century Fox released Edward Scissorhands in December 1990, marking a defining collaboration between director Tim Burton and star Johnny Depp. The film arrived as a singular piece of American fantasy filmmaking, blending suburban satire with gothic fairy tale in a way that distinguished Burton's visual sensibility from anything else in mainstream cinema at the time.
