Pixar Animation Studios released Cars 2 in June 2011, the studio's twelfth feature film and a direct sequel to the beloved 2006 original. Shifting the action to an international spy thriller framework, the film took Lightning McQueen and his friends onto a global stage. Shot on 35mm before digital projection became standard, original film elements from this era carry particular significance for collectors of animation history.
