Pixar Animation Studios released Cars 2 in June 2011, the studio's twelfth feature and a direct sequel to the beloved 2006 original. The film marked a notable tonal shift, leaning into international espionage and globe-trotting action rather than the quiet Americana of its predecessor. Shot on 35mm for theatrical release, it represented one of the final chapters of a transitional era in studio animation, bridging traditional photochemical exhibition with the digital projection that would soon dominate.

This cell, titled Mater and Finn, captures Tow Mater from an elevated vantage point during what appears to be a kinetic action sequence. The overhead framing places Mater amid surrounding vehicles on a pale surface, with scattered debris and a rounded object visible nearby, suggesting a pivotal mid-scene moment.
