Pixar Animation Studios released Cars 2 in June 2011, the studio's twelfth feature and the first direct sequel in its theatrical catalog. Arriving during a period of intense global interest in Formula One and international racing circuits, the film shifted the franchise toward a spy-thriller framework, expanding its world considerably beyond Radiator Springs. It remains a notable artifact of early 2010s Pixar production, representing the studio's continued investment in photorealistic rendering and large-scale international set pieces.

This cell, titled Mater and Finn, captures Mater in an overhead or high-angle composition, positioned centrally against a light-coloured outdoor surface with debris and dust visible around him. The elevated perspective gives the frame an almost surveillance-like quality, fitting for the film's espionage storyline. A structure is partially visible at the upper edge, grounding the moment within a larger urban or race environment.
