Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies released The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in November 2004, bringing the beloved animated television series to the theatrical screen for the first time. Directed by series creator Stephen Hillenburg, the film expanded the world of Bikini Bottom into a full feature adventure while retaining the hand-drawn warmth of the original show. It remains a touchstone of early 2000s animation and a significant moment in the franchise's history.
