Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies released The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in November 2004, bringing the beloved animated television series to the big screen for the first time. Directed by series creator Stephen Hillenburg, the film blended the show's irreverent humor with a genuine emotional core, earning strong box office returns and cementing SpongeBob's place in popular culture. It remains a touchstone of early 2000s animation.
