Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies released The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in November 2004, bringing Nickelodeon's beloved animated series to the theatrical format for the first time. Directed by series creator Stephen Hillenburg, the film expanded the world of Bikini Bottom into a feature-length adventure while preserving the absurdist humor that defined the television run. It remains a landmark in early 2000s animation, representing the rare transition from Saturday-morning television to wide theatrical release.
