Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies released The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in November 2004, bringing the beloved animated television series to theatrical audiences for the first time. Directed by series creator Stephen Hillenburg, the film expanded the underwater world of Bikini Bottom into a full feature adventure while retaining the irreverent humor that defined the original show.
