Paramount Pictures released The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in November 2004, bringing Nickelodeon's beloved animated series to the big screen for the first time. Directed by series creator Stephen Hillenburg, the film expanded the world of Bikini Bottom into a full theatrical adventure and became a genuine cultural touchstone for a generation of viewers, earning strong box office returns and lasting affection well beyond its initial run.
