Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies released The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in November 2004, bringing the beloved animated television series to the theatrical format for the first time. Directed by series creator Stephen Hillenburg, the film balanced absurdist humor with genuine heart, earning strong box office returns and cementing the franchise as a cultural touchstone of its era.
