New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring in December 2001, arriving at a moment when epic fantasy was largely absent from mainstream cinema. The film became a cultural landmark, earning widespread critical acclaim and launching one of the most celebrated trilogies in Hollywood history. Its theatrical trailer generated enormous anticipation, offering audiences their first sustained look at Middle-earth realized on screen.

This cell, titled Gandalf, Legolas and Gimli, captures three consecutive frames from the trailer's mountain pass sequence, almost certainly the treacherous slopes of Caradhras.
