New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in December 2001, adapting the first volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved trilogy. The film marked a turning point in epic fantasy filmmaking, earning widespread critical acclaim and four Academy Awards while demonstrating that large-scale literary adaptations could succeed both artistically and commercially.
This cell, titled Pippin by the operator, captures three consecutive frames from the theatrical trailer showing Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee on a rocky mountain ledge, with a dramatic river gorge and snow-capped peaks stretching behind them — imagery consistent with the desolate Emyn Muil landscape. The slight shift in frame position across the three images reflects the natural progression of the original film strip.
