New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring in December 2001, launching one of the most ambitious fantasy trilogies in Hollywood history. The film arrived at a moment when large-scale digital production was reshaping cinema, and its theatrical trailer generated considerable anticipation among both longtime Tolkien readers and general audiences.
This cell, titled Gimli, Frodo, Merry and Pippin, captures Fellowship members on the rocky, snow-swept terrain of what appears to be the Pass of Caradhras. Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, Billy Boyd as Pippin, Dominic Monaghan as Merry, and John Rhys-Davies as Gimli are visible among the huddled figures, cloaked against the mountain cold in one of the trailer's more quietly atmospheric moments.
