New Line Cinema's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novel arrived in December 2001, directed by Peter Jackson and filmed entirely in New Zealand. The Fellowship of the Ring launched one of the most ambitious fantasy trilogies in Hollywood history, earning widespread critical acclaim and multiple Academy Awards across the three-film run. Its theatrical trailer generated enormous anticipation, offering audiences their first sustained look at Middle-earth realized on screen.

This cell, titled Gandalf, Legolas and Gimli, captures three frames from the Fellowship's arduous crossing of a snow-covered mountain pass, almost certainly Caradhras. The title card The Fellowship of the Ring is visible within the frames, placing this material firmly in the trailer's establishing sequence. All three frames are near-identical, preserving a quiet, atmospheric moment from one of 35mm cinema's most celebrated fantasy productions.
