New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring in December 2001, launching one of the most ambitious fantasy trilogies in Hollywood history. The film arrived at a moment when digital and practical filmmaking techniques were converging in new ways, and its theatrical trailer generated considerable anticipation throughout that year.

This cell, titled Gandalf, Legolas and Gimli, captures three frames from the trailer's mountain pass sequence, most likely the slopes of Caradhras. Gandalf is clearly identifiable in his grey robes and wide-brimmed hat, with Legolas and Gimli among the Fellowship members visible against the snowy terrain. The vertical title overlay marks this as promotional material from the 2001 campaign.
