FILM NOTES

New Line Cinema's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring arrived in December 2001, adapting the first volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved trilogy. Directed by Peter Jackson, the film marked a turning point in epic fantasy filmmaking and launched one of the most celebrated theatrical trilogies in cinema history. Its promotional materials generated enormous anticipation worldwide.

This cell, titled Boromir, captures the warrior of Gondor lying on rocky mountain terrain, his armor and shield visible against a backdrop of snow-covered peaks. The overhead angle and dramatic setting suggest a moment of vulnerability or exhaustion during the Fellowship's alpine passage. A quietly striking frame centered entirely on one of the story's most complex figures.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
