New Line Cinema's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring arrived in December 2001, launching Peter Jackson's trilogy and reshaping the landscape of epic fantasy filmmaking. The production, shot entirely in New Zealand, became a cultural landmark and earned widespread critical recognition alongside enormous commercial success.
