New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in December 2001, adapting J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novel as the first chapter of a planned trilogy. The film arrived at a pivotal moment in blockbuster filmmaking, demonstrating that large-scale fantasy could be treated with seriousness and craft. Its theatrical trailer generated enormous anticipation and circulated widely in 35mm prints across cinemas worldwide.
