New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in December 2001, adapting J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novel for a new generation. The film launched one of cinema's most ambitious trilogies, shot entirely in New Zealand and celebrated for its practical effects, ensemble casting, and Howard Shore's iconic score.
