FILM NOTES

Columbia Pictures released Scooby-Doo in June 2002, bringing the long-running Hanna-Barbera animated franchise into live-action for the first time. Directed by Raja Gosnell, the film blended practical performance with early-2000s CGI to realise the Mystery Inc. gang for a new generation, drawing on decades of Saturday-morning nostalgia while targeting a broad family audience. Its theatrical trailer circulated widely ahead of a strong summer opening, making surviving 35mm promotional elements a genuine record of the period's marketing craft.

This cell, titled Scooby and Shaggy, captures the central duo in an exterior daytime setting surrounded by green foliage and a light-coloured wall. Neil Fanning's CGI creation of Scooby-Doo and Matthew Lillard's Shaggy Rogers appear together near a vehicle beneath open sky, the framing across these frames offering an unhurried look at the pair whose friendship anchors the entire production.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
