Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. released the live-action Scooby-Doo in June 2002, bringing Hanna-Barbera's beloved animated franchise to theaters for the first time with a full cast and CGI title character. Directed by Raja Gosnell, the film became a genuine summer hit and introduced the Mystery Inc. gang to a new generation while satisfying longtime fans of the original series.
This cell, titled Mystery Inc. Team, captures all five principals gathered around the glowing Daemon Ritus ritual light — Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred Jones, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne Blake, Linda Cardellini as Velma Dinkley, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers, and Neil Fanning's CGI Scooby-Doo at the center of the supernatural glow. The strip runs upside-down on the original 35mm print, a detail that speaks to the working life of theatrical exhibition.
