FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. released the live-action Scooby-Doo in June 2002, bringing Hanna-Barbera's beloved animated franchise to screens for the first time with a cast and a fully computer-generated title character. The film arrived at a moment when nostalgia-driven adaptations were reshaping summer blockbuster strategy, and its trailer circulated widely in 35mm prints ahead of competing releases that season.

This cell, titled Mystery Inc. Team, captures three consecutive frames from an overhead shot in which Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, Shaggy Rogers, and Scooby-Doo — portrayed by Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, Matthew Lillard, and Neil Fanning — are gathered together on a stone surface. The third frame carries a visible lens flare artifact at centre, a natural consequence of the original photochemical process.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
