FILM NOTES

Columbia Pictures released Scooby-Doo in June 2002, bringing the beloved Hanna-Barbera animated series into live-action for the first time. Directed by Raja Gosnell, the film marked a significant cultural moment, translating a decades-old cartoon property for a new generation while retaining its nostalgic appeal for longtime fans. The theatrical trailer campaign was a major part of its marketing push, introducing audiences to the cast through bold, stylised promotional imagery.

This cell, confirmed as Shaggy Rogers, captures Matthew Lillard in his portrayal of the iconic character against a vivid green glowing background, with the name SHAGGY rendered in stylised text. The promotional framing is immediately recognisable as trailer material, designed to introduce the character with visual impact. Three consecutive frames preserve this same composed shot, offering a rare glimpse into the deliberate graphic language of the film's marketing campaign.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
