FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction film directed by the Wachowskis that reshaped the genre and popular culture broadly. Drawing on cyberpunk literature, Hong Kong action cinema, and philosophical inquiry, the film became one of the defining works of its decade and remains a landmark in both visual effects history and mainstream filmmaking.

This cell, titled Neo Interrogated, captures a close-up of a man in a white shirt and tie against a neutral grey background suggestive of an office or interrogation setting. The three frames are near-identical, presenting the same subject in the same composition — a tight, still moment that reflects the controlled, unsettling atmosphere of the scene from which it originates.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
