FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction film written and directed by the Wachowskis. It arrived at a moment when digital effects and philosophical storytelling were converging in popular cinema, and its influence on action filmmaking, visual language, and cultural conversation proved immediate and lasting. The film earned four Academy Awards and remains a defining work of its decade.

This cell, titled Neo and Trinity, captures a three-frame walking sequence in which both figures advance through what appears to be a corridor or lobby setting rendered in characteristic symmetrical composition. The frames follow a continuous stride cycle, offering a rare glimpse of the two central characters in measured, purposeful motion rather than the film's more kinetic moments.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
