FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction film written and directed by the Wachowskis. Arriving at the close of the twentieth century, it reshaped mainstream cinema's visual language through its philosophical premise and pioneering photographic techniques, including the now-iconic bullet-time effect. The film earned four Academy Awards and remains a defining work of its decade.

The cell titled Neo and Trinity captures a walking sequence set within a corridor of mirrored or reflective surfaces. Neo and Trinity advance through the space in their characteristic dark coats, their figures doubled by reflections along a central axis. Across three progressive frames, their positions shift subtly, preserving the quiet momentum of the scene in a format that predates digital projection.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
