FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science-fiction action film written and directed by the Wachowskis. The production drew on cyberpunk literature, Hong Kong action cinema, and philosophical allegory to construct a story about simulated reality and human resistance. Its visual language and choreographed action sequences reshaped mainstream filmmaking, and its cultural footprint extended well beyond the box office into fashion, technology discourse, and popular philosophy.

This cell, titled Neo Gets The Call, presents three frames of Keanu Reeves as Neo, captured in what appears to be a publicity or title sequence portrait against a neutral purple-grey background. The repeated composition across all three frames gives the cell a quiet, deliberate rhythm, isolating the character at a pivotal threshold moment in the film's narrative.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
