FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction film written and directed by the Wachowskis. The production arrived at a pivotal moment in cinema, synthesizing Hong Kong action choreography, cyberpunk literature, and philosophical allegory into a work that reshaped visual storytelling. Its influence on cinematography, editing, and effects technique extended well beyond its immediate cultural moment, and the film remains a defining title of its decade.

This cell, titled Neo - Matrix Explained, captures Neo standing before a towering expanse of industrial machinery and server infrastructure, photographed from a low angle that emphasizes the scale of the environment around him. The sequence of three frames follows a single sustained setup, with subtle shifts in Neo's posture across the progression, preserving a quiet, contemplative moment from one of the film's most conceptually significant passages.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
