FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction action film written and directed by the Wachowskis. The film arrived at a pivotal moment in cinema, blending Hong Kong martial arts choreography, cyberpunk aesthetics, and philosophical underpinnings into a work that redefined visual storytelling. Its bullet-time photography and production design set a benchmark that influenced filmmaking throughout the following decade and beyond.

This cell, titled Trinity, captures Carrie-Anne Moss in her defining role across three adjacent or closely matched frames. Each frame places Trinity in an outdoor urban environment, her signature dark coat and black costume visible against a blue building facade. The sideways orientation of the composition suggests a moment of movement or action, consistent with the character's athletic presence throughout the film.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
