FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction film written and directed by the Wachowskis. It arrived at a moment when digital effects and philosophical storytelling were converging in mainstream cinema, and its influence on action filmmaking, visual language, and popular culture proved immediate and lasting. The film earned four Academy Awards and remains a defining work of its era.

The cell titled Neo - Armed captures Keanu Reeves as Neo across three consecutive 35mm frames, each showing him in dark sunglasses and black clothing against a blurred urban backdrop. A slight smile is visible in the middle frame, lending the sequence a rare moment of quiet confidence from the character. Together the frames present a cohesive and recognizable image of Neo in one of the film's most iconic visual registers.
