FILM NOTES

Warner Bros. released The Matrix in March 1999, a science fiction film written and directed by the Wachowskis. The production reshaped mainstream cinema through its fusion of Hong Kong action choreography, cyberpunk philosophy, and groundbreaking visual effects. Its bullet-time photography technique became one of the most referenced and imitated innovations of the decade, and the film's cultural footprint extended well beyond its box office success into fashion, music, and popular philosophy.

This cell, titled Neo - Machine Gun, captures Keanu Reeves as Neo positioned beneath a large rotating mechanical apparatus in a darkened industrial environment. The three frames hold the same sustained moment, Neo gazing upward at the imposing spinning structure above him, a quiet beat of scale and tension drawn from one of cinema's most enduring action sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
