Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel was produced by OLM, Inc. and released theatrically in Japan in July 2016, reaching international audiences later that year. The nineteenth entry in the long-running Pokémon film series, it marked a transitional moment as the franchise approached its twentieth anniversary, blending the familiar formula of legendary Pokémon encounters with steampunk-influenced production design that distinguished it visually from its predecessors.

This cell captures Gengar looming over Alva in what appears to be one of the film's interior confrontation sequences, the ghost-type Pokémon's silhouette dominating the frame while Alva's purple costume reads clearly against the shadowy wooden surroundings. It is a compositionally strong frame that reflects the film's recurring tension between its supernatural and human antagonistic elements.
