Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel was produced by OLM, Inc. and released theatrically in Japan in July 2016, with international distribution following through the year. The nineteenth entry in the long-running Pokémon film series, it arrived during a period of renewed global interest in the franchise coinciding with the Pokémon GO phenomenon, giving this particular theatrical run an unusual cultural weight for a mainline animated feature.
This cell captures Alva, the film's primary antagonist, beneath the imposing silhouette of a Gengar in what reads as a tense interior confrontation. Alva's distinctive cloaked garment with its orange and brown patterning and purple hood is clearly legible against the darkened background, making this a compositionally strong frame that places the villain in immediate relationship with the ghost-type Pokémon above him.
