Warner Bros. Pictures released The Lego Movie in February 2014, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The film arrived as a genuine surprise, transforming a toy brand into a sharp, layered comedy that resonated with children and adults alike. Its hand-crafted aesthetic, blending stop-motion sensibility with computer animation, gave it a visual identity unlike anything else in mainstream animation at the time. The film performed exceptionally well commercially and earned lasting critical respect.
