FILM NOTES

The Lego Movie arrived in February 2014 from Warner Bros. Pictures and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, becoming an unexpected cultural landmark. Built on the premise of animated plastic bricks, it blended sharp comedy with genuine emotional weight, grossing over 460 million dollars worldwide and demonstrating that toy-brand cinema could carry real artistic ambition. Its influence on animation and franchise filmmaking through the decade that followed remains substantial.

This cell, titled Red Lego Build, presents three consecutive 35mm frames capturing a red and dark-brown Lego construction set against a distinctly blue-lit environment. The strip is rotated ninety degrees, a common artifact of horizontal camera orientation during production. The slight framing shift across the trio suggests a slow camera move or a briefly held shot, preserving a quiet compositional moment from the film's richly detailed brick-built world.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
