Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures released The Lego Movie in February 2014, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The film arrived as a genuine surprise, transforming a toy brand into a sharp, layered comedy that worked equally well as satire and spectacle. Its blend of stop-motion aesthetic with CGI animation earned widespread critical admiration and strong commercial returns, cementing it as one of the more inventive studio releases of the decade.
