FILM NOTES

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's The Lego Movie arrived from Warner Bros. Pictures in February 2014, a film that surprised audiences and critics alike by delivering genuine wit and emotional depth beneath its animated brick-built surface. Working with Animal Logic, the directors crafted a visually inventive world that honored the tactile quality of physical Lego while pushing animated filmmaking in a fresh direction. Its cultural footprint extended well beyond its box office success, influencing a generation of animated features that followed.

This cell captures Vitruvius, the ancient wizard voiced by Morgan Freeman, mid-action across three frames of 35mm. The sequence shows his white robes and brown staff against shifting Lego environments, moving from a dark background into a blue-toned setting. The slight motion between frames gives the cell a quiet sense of narrative momentum, preserving a small but recognizable moment from one of the film's most distinctive characters.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
