FILM NOTES

Forrest Gump was released by Paramount Pictures in the summer of 1994, directed by Robert Zemeckis and adapted from Winston Groom's novel. The film became one of the defining cultural touchstones of its decade, earning six Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Shot on 35mm by cinematographer Don Burgess, its visual language remains inseparable from the era's prestige filmmaking.

This cell captures Jenny Curran standing on a wooden dock over open water, arms outstretched, with spray rising around her — a moment drawn from one of the film's most quietly devastating sequences. Played by Robin Wright, Jenny is alone in the frame across three continuous images, the water and mist lending the composition an almost painterly stillness that makes this a particularly resonant piece of the picture.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
