FILM NOTES

Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace arrived in May 1999 after sixteen years without a theatrical Star Wars release, carrying enormous cultural anticipation. Directed by George Lucas, it launched the prequel trilogy and introduced a new generation to the saga, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of its decade and expanding the franchise's visual and narrative vocabulary considerably.

This cell, titled Droideka, captures the Destroyer Droid in its fully deployed combat stance within a corridor or hangar interior, mechanical tubing and hull panels framing the figure. Spanning three consecutive frames, the strip preserves subtle limb movement across an otherwise consistent composition, offering a rare sequential look at one of the film's most distinctive mechanical designs.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
